Turkish Poppy-Seed Cake

Today we celebrated my cousin´s 18th birthday.
BTW Happy Birthday Misko!!
And my aunt baked this incredible delicious Turkish Poppy-Seed Cake. You eat it slightly warm, combined with the cold topping it is just delicious.
Have I already told you that the cake is really delicious?
No?
Well, it is really really delicious!!


Turkish Poppy-Seed Cake


Ingredients:

Dough:
4 eggs
3/4 cup Poppy Seeds
3/4 cup flour
1 sachet baking powder
1 cup semolina
1 cup sunflower oil

Sirup:
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
juice from a lemon

Topping:
250 g curd cheese
250 g sour cream
1/2 cup coconut flakes


Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Cover a baking dish with parchment paper.
Stir all ingredients for the dough together. Put the dough in the baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes.
For the sirup boil all ingredients.
For the topping mix all ingredients.
Soak the baked cake with the sirup. Let it cool down a bit, then put the topping over the cake and sprinkle over the coconut flakes.
